ROBOTIC BEHAVIOUR
Chapter 1: Now Now Now
Kinki: “Didi, can we go to Bobby’s house?”
Didi: “Alright, let me finish my studies first, and then we can go.Do you trust me?”
Kinki: “No, I want to go now, now, and now! My robot and I want to play with Bobby and his robot”
Didi: “Kinki, please be patient. I will complete my studies and then go wit h you.”
Kinki: “But I want to go now! Can’t we go now, now, now?”
Didi: (looking into Kinki’s eyes) “My dear,Your insistence on me acting like a robot is not nice”
Kinki: (yelling) “Now Now Now! I want to go now!”
Didi: “You see, a robot instantly responds to a button’s command. But we, as human beings, function differently.”
kinki :Now Now Now
Didi: (thinking to herself) “I need to find a solution.”
Didi: (calling her neighbour, Rashmi) “Hello, Rashmi. Can we talk?”
Rashmi: “Yes, sure.”
Didi: “Rashmi, my parents have gone to meet their friends. Kinki is not letting me finish my studies.Rashmi come help me. You are next door.”
Rashmi(laughs): “Yes, I am coming now now now?”
Didi laughs and says,”kinki has a robotic behaviour and now you also..ha ha ha..
Rashmi laughs and then keeps the phone down.
Chapter 2: The Magic Trick
Rashmi: knock knock knock
kinki rushes and opens the door.
Rashmi:”Hello, Kinki! How are you?”
Kinki(shrugging shoulders) :”Fine”
Rashmi: (to Kinki) “Look what I’ve brought!”
Kinki: (curious) “What did you bring?”
Rashmi says: “Kinki, do you want to explore the whole world?”
Kinki replies:” Yes Yes Yes”
Rashmi says: “I will show you a magic trick.”(Rashmi gives the packet to kinki.Kinki tries hard to open the box,but it doesn’t open.)
Rashmi:There is a magic trick.
Kinki:A magic trick,teach me,teach me.
Rashmi:Can you see the human face on the box top.
Kinki:yes
Rashmi:the mouth is an inverted “U”.Observe the face.The inverted U is the key to open the box.
Kinki:(thinking )-how should I open it?What should I do?
Kinki:The face looks sad.i don’t like a sad face.I will turn the inverted “U” into upwards “U” giving a smile to the face.(click click,opens the box and a large world map pops out of it)
Kinki: (excitedly) “Thanks Didi, thanks a lot!” ( becomes very happy)
__Chapter 3: Within
kinki is buzy reading the world map.meanwhile Rashmi and didi talk for a while.
Rashmi(talking to Didi): “See,Patience follows curiosity,wherein we connect to the human being “within”.
Didi: Really.”Within” .
Rashmi:The closer we are to our inner self, the more patient we are.
Didi:Where did you learn all this?
Rashmi:I am a good reader.Recently, I read a book on Co-existentialism, by A.Nagraj.
Didi(talking to kinki): “Kinki, do you have questions regarding the world.”
Kinki: (looking surprised) “Yes, Didi, lots and lots of them.”
Rashmi adds (pointing to the robot): Does the robot have questions?
Kinki: No. But the robot has some answers to a few questions.
Rashmi: Yes, and those answers are fed in a robot,by human beings themselves.
Didi:So technically robots do not have answers on their own. No questions from within, no answers from within.
Kinki: Within
Rashmi: Yes, that’s the difference between a human being and a robot.
Kinki(talking to Rashmi):What is the difference between a human being and robot?
Rashmi:A human being has an inner self “within” that is curious.Once we get answers we are
Kinki: within
Didi:See,I am happy. You are happy. Rashmi is happy. But a robot is not happy nor is it sad.
Rashmi says:Now let me go, otherwise your Didi will never be able to finish her studies.ha ha ha
kinki:(laughs aloud) ha ha ha
Rashmi and Didi have a good laugh too. Kinki smiles.He likes it,when Didi and her friend,cares for him.
Didi turns towards Kinki and asks, “I will finish my studies, then we will go.”
Kinki replies, “Yes Yes Yes”
